PR Websetters - the new breed of Entrepreneurs
Meet the Websetters - the new breed of entrepreneur
Websetters are the latest group of entrepreneurs.
If you haven't heard of them, it's not surprising. They are into Lifestyle not publicity and tend to keep a relatively low profile, according to Lea-Anne Brighton, Marketing Resultant with ecommerce company Solutions Management. .
“We have had jet-setters, then trend-setters and now websetters have come along as the new entrepreneurs,” Ms Brighton said. “And why not, this group of business owners have not only the money, but also the time to get out and really enjoy their lives, spend time with the family and have a great time.
“Websetters are now among of the most highly sought-after people in business. They have created their success using the web. They have smart websites that not only make them money, but they can also afford the luxury of freedom of lifestyle.”
The name websetter comes directly from a combination of jet-setters and trend-setters. Jet-setters have lifestyle and travel while trend-setters love new toys, fashions, gadgets and technology. The websetter has combined these two lifestyles with using the web to make money.
They have the freedom of time to have the lifestyle they want. If they want to travel they do and their businesses still operate successfully no matter where they are.
“Often websetters are family people rather than the ‘party animals' we picture jet-setters to be,” Ms Brighton said. “These are generally down-to-earth people who simply gave up the rat race to create a better life for themselves and their family. While some people opt for a "sea change" and move into the countryside, these people are moving their "income generation" to an online business.
“It is not that they don't work hard any more, they do. Websetters have set up their business to work with their lifestyle rather than simply working.
“One websetter I know recently coupled a business trip with several weeks travel and touring in Queensland. It was all paid for by the business, as they had to be in certain locations at set times for business meetings.
“Once the business was completed, they headed west for a few weeks for a ‘well needed' holiday in the Territory. The key difference was that while they toured and holidayed, their business was still generating sales through an active website.”
Ms Brighton said the Websetter Lifestyle was a growing phenomenon. More and more people are looking at ways to move their business from 60 hours a week to four days a week and the fifth to play golf. The web is giving them the freedom to change. Websetters are the online "Sea Change".
