PR - Eight Low Cost Ways To Get Traffic To Your Website
website marketing Promote Your Website
The adage “build it and they will come” doesn't work so well when you are talking about websites. With millions of sites for on-line shoppers to choose from, it is vital to have a strategy and some clever tactics to attract visitors to your site.

Lea-Anne Brighton, Marketing Resultant with website developer and e-commerce company Solutions Management, has some great ideas on how to get more people to your website. Here are eight simple and affordable ways to get people to your business website right now:

1. Be well-listed (up the top) on Search Engines. More people than ever are using search engines - Yellow Pages research indicates that up to 86% of all searches are made by people seeking products and services. If your business is not well-listed on search engines, you are not only missing out on new business yourself, you are likely to be giving business to your competition.

2. Get listed on good quality Directories. Find reasonably priced Directories with high traffic levels. There are quite a few of these, so they are a good place to start. Yellow Pages are always an option but are neither low cost nor are they seen as good value in some quarters. Look at it from your business perspective. Some smaller localised Directories work wonders. You might have to do some searching for them, but it is likely to be a good investment of your time and effort.

3. Become a Stamper! Buy a cheap self-inked stamp, ($30-$40) and stamp your website details onto all of your envelopes, invoices and marketing material where it currently does not appear. Get it onto every piece of paper that leaves your office. It is a cheap, effective way to get people to look at your website.

4. Put your Website Address on a sticker for your car. This is free advertising for your business that can be seen by people every day as you drive around. You can have something striking and complex or something as simple as the web address. Stickers can cost from $20 or $30 for a sticker created at your local market through to several thousand dollars if you use a Signage Expert.

5. Get some Free Press on your Business. Write a short article about something interesting you are doing in your business or a client and send it to your local papers. Keep your article short and to the point (no more than 400 words). If they want a longer story they can call you for more information. At this length, it might be great filler for them, and you increase your chances of getting published.

6. Email signature files. Experience shows that around 30% of legitimate e-mails received each day are sent without the person listing their contact details, including their website, in their signature file. This is a file you can automatically set up in most e-mail programs, including Microsoft Word and Mozilla. Include your website as it is a quick way for people to read more about what you do simply by clicking on the website link.

7. Get your website listed on Local Council Directories. Most Councils have spent tens of thousands of ratepayer dollars setting them up, so you should get some value by being listed. Don't spend too much time though and provide simple information as it is difficult to assess the effectiveness of the Directories.

8. Tell people about your website. While it sounds obvious, many business cards don't include websites, e-mails don't have signature files and some people cannot remember their website address. These are missed opportunities that are costing you money.

The web offers the most cost-effective way to get new customers and grow your business. Many business owners report return on investment of hundreds of percent. You can't afford to stick your head in the sand and ignore the web.

With more than 6 million searches going on every day, if people do not find your business, they are going to find your competitors and take their business to them.
